Heritage Christian Academy finished fourth at the KCAA State JV Volleyball Tournament Saturday hosted by HCA.
The Lady Warriors were the four-seed coming in but dropped a 21-17, 21-16 decision to five-seed North Hardin in the opener Friday.
In the consolation bracket, HCA beat eight-seed Danville Christian 21-3, 21-15 Saturday morning. The Lady Warriors defeated seven-seed Sayers Christian 21-13, 19-21, 21-14 to advance to the finals of the consolation bracket where they were defeated again by North Hardin Christian 21-12, 13-21, 22-20.
Trinity Christian beat North Hardin to win the JV state championship.
“I was pleased with our play overall. We were within one point of being in the championship match, but just did not finish strong,” said Lady Warriors Head Coach Eldridge Rogers. “A missed serve and a defensive mistake took us out. But I was proud of the way we fought back several times when we were down. They never gave up and battled to the final point.”
Rogers complimented the play of middles Allie Schluckebier and Allie Boyd, the defensive play of Alyvia Stokes and Meredith Crunk, and the play of setter Emma Kirkman and eighth graders Lexie Nelson and Lexie Crisp.
Crunk was named to the All-Tournament Team.
