There aren’t many teams playing better soccer defense in western Kentucky over the past two weeks than University Heights Academy. The Blazers won their fifth straight match – all by shutout – and advanced to the Eighth District Boys’ championship game Wednesday with a 4-0 win over Fort Campbell Monday.
Ian Calvert (17) and Will Bryan (10) each scored two goals for the Blazers, who improved to 12-6-2 with the win. Goalie Dan Johnson and the defensive line notched their 11th shutout, which Head Coach Mike Smith says is a new school record.
Fort Campbell’s season ends with a record of 4-9-1.
UHA advances to their first district title match in four years, which was also the last time the Blazers won a district title. UHA will play Hopkinsville Wednesday at 5:30. Hoptown beat Christian County 10-0 in the opener.
