Hopkinsville made quick work of Christian County, beating the Colonels 10-0 Monday in the semifinals of the Boys’ Eighth District Soccer Tournament at the Stadium of Champions.
Hoptown scored twice in the first four minutes and five goals in the first 22 minutes as they built a 9-0 lead by halftime. Jose Favela ended the game with a goal nine minutes into the second half due to the mercy rule.
Ryan Roussel had two goals (24) and three assists (23) to lead the offensive effort, while the Tigers got single goals from Ethan Noel (16), Caleb Joiner (39), Tyler Aldridge (7), Braden Casey (8), Caleb Gary (1), Welby Horn (5), and Zach Croom (1) in addition to Favela (3). Noel (38) and Zach Moore (5) each had two assists.
Christian County could not gain control of the ball at midfield and didn’t have a shot on goal until the second half. The Colonels’ season ends with a record of 5-14-3.
Hopkinsville (15-4) has won five straight games and will play University Heights Academy Wednesday in the district championship game. UHA beat Fort Campbell 4-0 in the other semifinal Monday.
