The University Heights Academy boys’ soccer team posted its third straight shutout on Thursday, blanking the visiting Union County Braves 3-0. The Blazers have outscored their last three opponents 17-0 and improve to 11-6-2 on the season, while the Braves fall to 1-13-1.
Senior forward Jacorie Summers got the Blazers on the board late in the first half off an assist from junior midfielder Ian Calvert. Calvert would collect a goal of his own with 20 minutes remaining in the game when he converted a penalty kick. Freshman Elvin Wagner rounded out the scoring with only 5 minutes left in the match. Junior goalkeeper Daniel Johnson earned the shutout in goal.
The Blazers return to the field on Monday when they face the Fort Campbell Falcons (4-8-1) at the Stadium of Champions in the first round of the 8th District Tournament. UHA needed overtime to beat the Falcons 6-5 at Givens Field earlier in the season.
