The Christian County Lady Colonels may have made an 8th District statement Thursday night as they came from two sets down to upend University Heights in five sets. The win marked the third in a row for the Lady Colonels over a district opponent.
Things got off to a quick start for the Lady Blazers, who jumped out to a big early lead in the first set and rolled to a 25-16 win. With continued strong play from Lily Hendricks and Aisha Pantiere, UHA won a tight second set 26-24.
With their backs up against the wall, the Lady Colonels got down to serious business. With Courtney Smith and Ariyonna Johnson leading the way, Christian County won the third set 25-21. The Lady Colonels jumped out to a big early lead in the fourth set on the way to a 25-19 win.
In the deciding 5th set, Christian County jumped out 4-0 and then sealed the match with a 15-9 win. The win was the 4th in a row overall for the Lady Colonels and improved their record to 9-14, while UHA fell to 6-7.
