Fort Campbell scored two goals in the final four minutes to shock Christian County and pick up a 3-2 win that clinches the number three seed in the district tournament for the Falcons.
The contest was physical and intense as both teams played with the purpose of avoiding a loss which would pair them against top seed Hopkinsville in the postseason.
James Manning scored the only goal of the first half to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead after 40 minutes. Christian County tied the game midway through the second half when Kenton Lancaster cleaned up a missed shot in front of the net.
With five minutes left in the match, Christian County was awarded a penalty kick after a tackle in the goal box. Luke Ferrell banged home the shot to give the Colonels a 2-1 lead.
Less than a minute later, the Falcons answered when Jhony Paniagua-Solis took a crossing pass and headed it home to knot the game at 2-2.
Fort Campbell continued to be the aggressor in the final minutes, and it paid off when Kenyon Ward fired one in the net from 25 yards out with less than a minute left that proved to be the game-winner.
The Falcons, who had seen six of their previous seven matches decided by two goals or less, improved to 3-7 with the win. They will be the three seed in the district tournament and play University Heights Academy in the first round.
Christian County dropped to 5-11 with the loss and will play top seed Hopkinsville in the district tournament.
