Lyon County golfer Cullan Brown continued his stronghold atop the First Region golf race, but his final region tournament proved to be a tough one. Brown won the region title for the third time in four years on the second playoff hole Monday at the Country Club of Paducah.
Brown and Marshall County freshman Jay Nimmo finished tied at 1-under after Nimmo birdied 18 and Brown saved par with an incredible shot from the rough and behind a tree.
McCracken County’s Dalton Bagwell finished third after shooting an even par 72.
Brown will try and defend his state title next week at the KHSAA/Leachman Buick State Tournament in Bowling Green.
Trigg County shot a 373 as a team, led by Grayson Thomas’ 86. Caleb Federspiel shot a 91, followed by Hunter Reynolds (98), Darrin Goodwin (98), and Ty Butts (103). As a team, Trigg County finished seventh.
