
The Caldwell County Lady Tigers (7-4) soccer team made easy work of the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm (5-3-1), winning 7-0 in Morton’s Gap. The Lady Tigers, ranked 3rd in the YourSportsEdge.com 2nd Region rankings, have now won 3 of 4 and clinch the top seed in the 7th District tournament. The loss is the first for the Lady Storm in their last 6 games.
Sophomore forward Lucy Goffinet scored the first goal, followed by senior midfield Taely Freeman, senior forward Meridan Giannini, and junior midfielder Allissa Traylor. Senior midfielder MacKenzie Smiley, senior defender Matteah Butts, and Giannini had first half assists. Junior midfielder Laney Fletcher took over after the break for the Lady Tigers, scoring a second half hat trick, with Traylor picking up an assist. Caldwell outshot the Lady Storm 28-9.
Caldwell will be back in action September 18th when they host the 4-6 Hopkinsville Lady Tigers.
