After suffering their first loss of the season on Saturday, a 3-0 setback against the undefeated Warren Central Dragons (10-0), the Tigers rebounded in a big way with a 10-0 win over Marion County (6-7) to claim third place in the Boots and Butts Soccer Classic at the Stadium of Champions.
The Tigers took a 4-0 lead into halftime, with goals scored by senior midfielder Ethan Noel, junior forward Ryan Roussel, senior forward Caleb Joiner, and senior midfielder Newcomb Maddux. Noel, Roussel, Joiner, and junior midfielder Zach Moore each notched a first half assist.
The second half was more of the same from the Tigers, with Roussel and Joiner both finishing off hat tricks with two more goals each. Sophomore midfielder Tyler Greenwell also recorded two second half goals to round out the scoring for Hopkinsville. Noel and Maddux both had two second half assists, while Roussel and Moore each added one.
The Tigers (7-1), top ranked in the YourSportsEdge.com 2nd Region rankings, have a big game looming at Marshall County (6-2) on September 14th.
