After notching her first professional win June 23, Emma Talley had not found her way back into the top 10 of any Symetra Tour events. The Princeton golfer was able to overcome windy conditions over the weekend to claim her first top 10 since that June win with a third place finish at the Garden City Classic in Garden City, Kansas.

Talley shot even par over the three rounds to finish five shots behind Canada’s Anne-Catherine Tanguay. She shot 3-under 69 in the first round and a 1-over 73 on Saturday. She began the final round tied for fifth place, and her 2-over 74 was good enough to jump to third place.

Talley won $10,312 Sunday and remains in seventh place on the Symetra Tour money list, despite being leap-frogged by Sunday’s winner Tanguay. Talley has won $60,214 on the tour this year, which is $6,398 ahead of eight place Yu Liu, who didn’t play over the weekend.

Talley began the day just over $7,000 ahead of Kendall Dye, who was in 11th place on the money list. Her third place finish allowed her to extend the margin to $12,721 over 11th place Katelyn Dambaugh. The top ten finishers on the money list earn their LPGA tour card for 2018.

Talley is reportedly skipping next week’s stop in Arkansas and will play the final three events on the schedule, starting Sept. 22-24 in Prattville, Alabama.
