The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers made a strong statement about the 8th District volleyball race Thursday night with a straight set win over the Christian County Lady Colonels at Tiger Gym. Hopkinsville opened the match with a 25-15 win in the first set, getting a strong performance from senior Zakyra Stallworth.
In the second set, Christian County opened strong, but saw Hopkinsville roar back to take the set 25-18. The Lady Tigers got strong second set play from both junior Sarah Cavanah and sophomore Hope Pace.
Behind a strong effort from Pace, Hopkinsville finished the evening off with a 25-15 in the 3rd set to claim the win against their cross town rivals. Hopkinsville’s win was their second over Christian County this year. The Lady Tigers beat the Lady Colonels in three sets in the Bluegrass Invitational In Lexington Aug. 26.
With the win, Hopkinsville improved to 5-5 on the season, while Christian County falls to 5-12.
