The 2017-18 golf season for the Murray State women’s team includes three new events and one that the Racers compete in for the first time in a while. The first event for the defending Ohio Valley Conference champion is Monday when the Racers compete in Springfield, Missouri at the Payne Stewart Memorial at Twin Oaks Country Club. Coach Velvet Milkman returns her entire lineup from a year ago when the team won a program-record six events, including their 10th Ohio Valley Conference title.

The fall schedule includes the visit to the Payne Stewart Memorial Tournament hosted by Missouri State (Sept. 11-12) as the Racers compete in this event for the first time. After MSU defends their title at the Chris Banister Classic hosted by Jacksonville State (Sept. 24-26), the Racers visit the University of Kentucky Invitational (Oct. 6-8). MSU will also make first time appearances at the Fred Marx Invitational hosted by Louisiana-Monroe (Oct. 16-17) and Idle Hour Championship hosted by Mercer (Oct. 30-31).

MSU’s spring schedule begins at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate (Feb. 25-27), before they play two events in Florida at the North Florida Collegiate (March 5-6) and Citrus Challenge (March 18-20). MSU plays at the Panther Intercollegiate hosted by Georgia State (March 25-27). The Racers host their own Jan Weaver Invitational at Miller Memorial (April 6-7).

The Racers return a veteran lineup that includes two-time OVC Golfer of the Year, Moa Folke, who is back for her senior season. MSU also returns All-OVC picks Linette Holmslykke, who is a junior, and sophomore Lucila Puente Rodriguez de Austria, who was also honored as OVC Freshman of the Year.

MSU won it’s 10th OVC Championship last year at Hampton Cove in Alabama. When the 2018 event is played in Muscle Shoals, Alabama at the The Shoals Golf Club, the Racers go back to the club where they won the title in 2014. That OVC title came at the Fighting Joe course. The 2018 event will be played on the Schoolmaster Course for the first time.
