Meridan Giannini’s goal was the only one of the match as Caldwell County beat Apollo 1-0 Saturday at the Butler Stadium. The goal was Giannini’s sixth of the season and came off Taely Freeman’s sixth assist of the season. It was Caldwell County’s second shutout win of the season and tenth in the past two seasons.
It marked Caldwell County’s first 1-0 win since a 2013 contest at Christian County and snapped a two- game losing streak to the E-Gals (3-2). Caldwell County also won the JV game 2-0.
Caldwell County (3-2) travels to St. Mary Tuesday.
