The Caldwell County Lady Tiger volleyball team got a good chance to get a measure of itself Saturday, as they traveled to Louisville to take on two of the state’s Top 25 teams. Caldwell County made the trip up to Jefferson County to get a chance to take on #23 Holy Cross and #7 Presentation.

In the opening match of the day, the Lady Tigers gave Holy Cross all they wanted before falling in four sets. Caldwell County won the first set 25-21, before Holy Cross came back to win the next three 25-22, 25-14, and 25-21.

The Lady Tigers then took on Presentation in their second match of the day. The Toppers got on a roll and defeated Caldwell County in straight sets 25-16, 25-10, and 25-14.

Lady Tigers head coach Daniel Cortner says the day was a great experience for his team. He added that even with the losses his team competed very well against two of the top teams in the Commonwealth, and that is should go a long way in his team’s preparation for the All A state tournament and for 2nd Region tournament play.

The Lady Tigers fall to 4-2 on the season, headed into a trip Tuesday night to Morton’s Gap to take on Hopkins Central.
