The Hopkinsville boys’ soccer team (2-0) pulled away from UHA (1-1), going on to win 11-1. Junior midfielder Ian Calvert scored on a free kick to tie the game at 1-1, but the Tigers reeled off 10 unanswered and cruised to the win. Hopkinsville led 4-1 at the half on goals from senior midfielder Ethan Noel, junior forward Ryan Roussel, and senior forward Caleb Joiner (2).
The Tigers overpowered the Blazers in the second half, as Joiner added 2 more goals, with Noel, Roussel, junior midfielder Zach Moore, senior midfielder Newcomb Maddux, and senior defender Cameron Ellis picking up a goal each. Hoptown spread the ball around, getting 8 assists on its 11 goals. Senior forward Tyler Aldridge had 3 assists, Roussel had 2, and Noel, sophomore midfielder Welby Horn, and sophomore defender Mason Rye had 1 each.
The Tigers travel to Owensboro (0-2) August 28th and UHA begins All “A” regional tournament play hosting Caldwell County (1-1) on Saturday.
