Christian County senior John Buchanan continued his hot start to his senior golf season by winning the Paducah Tilghman Invitational Saturday at Paxton Park Golf Course.
Buchanan was the only golfer to finish under par with a score of 69 (-2) on the day, overcoming slow play on the course that saw some holes backed up three groups at a time. In three invitationals played in 2017, Buchanan now has two finishes in the top two. He entered the week tied for 17th in the state golf rankings but is sure to move inside the top 10 when the new rankings are released this week.
Buchanan’s teammate Carson Holmes finished tied for second place with an even par 71, joining McCracken County’s Dalton Bagwell who also shot even par.
Christian County did not field the four golfers necessary to tally a complete score. Micah Smith shot a 106.
