Like Christian County, the Caldwell County Tigers suffered through an injury plagued 2016 season that saw them finish with a 5-14-1 record. The Tigers went 3-8-1 in the region and 1-3 in the district. They scored 45 goals and allowed 72, before their season ended with a 2-1 loss to Hopkins County Central in the first round of the 7th District tournament, the first time since 2002 the Tigers failed to reach the regional tournament. The Tigers All “A” campaign ended with a 1-0 shootout loss to UHA early in the season.

Coach Alan Shaffer enters his 11th season and is the second longest serving boys’ soccer coach in the region. Four seniors leave the program, defenders Will Darnell and Warren Forsythe, and forwards John Riley and Garek Smurawa.

The Tigers open 2017 with a long bus ride to the 1st Region’s Ballard Memorial Bombers. Caldwell enjoyed an easy 11-4 win over the Bombers last season at Butler Stadium in Princeton. The Tigers begin their 2nd Region All “A” efforts August 19th at home against UHA, and will play Hopkinsville on September 23rd when they take part in the Colonels Classic at the Stadium of Champions, where they went 0-2 in the competition in 2016.
