Ty Ramey pitched a two-hitter and didn’t allow a hit past the second inning as Caldwell County beat Union County 6-2 to repeat as Second Region baseball champions. The Tigers move on to the state tournament in Lexington where they will face 11th Region champion Scott County in a rematch from last year.
Ramey was masterful on the mound, striking out eight and walking just two. Caldwell never trailed in the game, scoring two runs in the first, third, and fourth innings. Bryce Thomas homered and doubled with driving in two runs, while Jase Felker had two hits and three RBIs.
Caldwell County (26-9) becomes the first repeat region champion since Henderson County in 2012 and 2013.
